Web Desk: Two local political figures, Councillor Raja Jameel Ahmed and Raja Rashid Altaf, joined the campaign of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) assembly candidate Raja Tasleem Anjum on Sunday, bringing hundreds of supporters into the party’s fold in a show of political strength ahead of elections.
The development took place in New City, LA-3 Mirpur, where the two leaders formally announced their support for Anjum during a public gathering attended by party workers and local residents.
According to party representatives, the move significantly strengthens Anjum’s campaign in the constituency as both local leaders joined the IPP candidate along with hundreds of their associates and supporters.
Meanwhile, party workers welcomed the new entrants with traditional ceremonies. Organisers presented Raja Jameel Ahmed and Raja Rashid Altaf with ceremonial turbans, while supporters showered flower petals to mark their arrival.
Addressing the gathering, Anjum said the expanding public support for the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party reflected growing confidence in leadership focused on “positivity, dignity and public service.”
He also said the decision by prominent local figures to join his campaign demonstrated increasing political momentum for the party in the constituency.
The event comes as political parties continue to intensify campaigning and seek endorsements from influential local leaders ahead of the upcoming electoral contest in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
