Web Desk: A sessions judge was assassinated along with his security guard in a gun attack on a national highway in Balochistan, officials said.

Sessions Judge Abdul Hakim Kakar was targeted while traveling through Mastung district, according to authorities. Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari and another person were seriously injured in the attack and were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Officials said the bodies of the victims and the injured were moved to medical facilities as security agencies began investigating the incident.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the killing, describing the attack on the judge as an assault on the state and its institutions.

Bugti said those responsible would be pursued and brought to justice, adding that the sacrifice of law enforcement and judicial personnel would not go in vain.

“The blood of those who protect the law will not be wasted,” the chief minister said, while promising strict action against militants and their facilitators.

The chief minister said the government would not allow armed groups to challenge the authority of the state and vowed to intensify operations against militant networks across the province.

He added that no safe haven would remain for elements involved in terrorism and that security forces would continue efforts to dismantle such networks.

Furthermore, Bugti said authorities would ensure accountability for those behind attacks on state institutions and continue the fight against militancy with full force.

The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, a resource-rich province that has faced repeated militant violence targeting government officials, security personnel and civilians.

Authorities have not yet released details about the attackers or claimed responsibility for the assault. An investigation into the incident is underway.
