Changing the hours of educational institutions, important news for students

The Punjab government has announced new timings for all public and private educational institutions across the province in view of the arrival of winter. According to the notification issued by the Department of School Education, the new schedule has come into effect from 16 October 2025 and will be effective until 31 March 2026. The notification states that the boys' single shift schools will be open from 8:45 am – 2:45 am (Monday – Thursday), while classes will be held on Fridays from 12:30 am. Girls' single shift schools will run from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm (Monday – Thursday) and 12:15 pm on Fridays. Similarly, a new schedule for double shift schools has also been released. In boys' double shift schools, the first shift will be from 8:45 am – 12:45 pm (Monday – Thursday) and 12:30 pm on Fridays, while the second shift will be from 1:00 am – 5:00 pm
Starts at (Monday-Thursday) and lasts until 2:00 pm on Friday. In girls' double shift schools, the morning shift will be from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm (Monday – Thursday) and 12:15 pm on Fridays, while the afternoon shift will be from 12:45 pm – 4:45 pm (Monday – Thursday) and 1:45 pm – 4:45 pm on Fridays. According to the Department of Education, this change in winter hours has been made in view of the severity of the weather to facilitate students and teachers and to maintain continuity in educational activities. All educational institutions have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the new schedule.
