Web Desk: A video circulating on social media and being presented as footage of an interception over Makkah is not from the holy city, according to available records. The footage was filmed in Madinah and dates back to September 2025.
The video shows a bright object moving across the night sky near the Prophet’s Mosque, Masjid an-Nabawi, in Madinah.
Available records indicate that the clip began circulating on social media on Sept. 11, 2025. It was reportedly recorded at around 5:43 a.m. Saudi time near Masjid an-Nabawi.
The footage was subsequently reposted across social media, with contemporary posts and reports appearing around Sept. 12 and 13, 2025.
The same video has now resurfaced with claims that it shows an interception over Makkah. However, the location shown in the original footage is Madinah, not Makkah.
The distinction is significant because Makkah and Madinah are separate cities in western Saudi Arabia, and the Prophet’s Mosque is located in Madinah.
The available evidence indicates that the video is an old recording rather than footage from a recent incident in Makkah.
Contemporary reports published in September 2025 also referred to videos circulating online showing a bright object over Madinah. The footage was therefore already publicly available well before its latest appearance with a different location claim.
