Arshad Nadeem vs Neeraj Chopra: Pakistan ready to clinch another gold in Tokyo

Pakistan Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem is all set to face his Indian rival Neeraj Chopra in the men’s javelin at the World Athletics Championships on Wednesday and Thursday in Tokyo.

The star javelin thrower created history by winning Pakistan the first ever medal in the field of athletics in Olympics.

Arshad Nadeem will face his arch rival Neeraj Chopra in the highly anticipated event which will kick off at 4:45pm (Pakistan time), with the final scheduled for Thursday, September 18.

In a statement ahead of the event, Arshad Nadeem said he is fully fit and in good rhythm, expressing strong determination to win a gold medal for Pakistan.

“I am in Tokyo to compete in the World Athletics Championship. Tomorrow is the qualifying round. Please keep me in your prayers so I can perform well and reach the final,” added Arshad.’

He also urged his fans for their prayers, adding that he will do his best to live up to the nation’s expectations.

Arshad Nadeem is one of the few Pakistani athletes who have earned global recognition.

It is important to note here that Arshad Nadeem, earlier took the step to withdraw his participation at the upcoming World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Event at Switzerland that was slated for July 15. He had sustained a minor calf muscle injury during the course of training back in Pakistan. The star Javelin thrower was undergoing an intensive rehabilitation program in London where his doctor performed the shin surgery.
