A life jacket belonging to a survivor of the RMS Titanic disaster has been sold at a very high price in the UK.

According to a British auction house, the rare life jacket was sold for $904,500, far exceeding its initial estimated value of $339,000 to $474,000.

The life jacket belonged to a woman named Laura Mabel, a first-class passenger on the ship. She survived the disaster by boarding Lifeboat No. 1.

It is worth noting that the RMS Titanic sinking occurred in April 1912 during the ship’s maiden voyage from Britain to the United States. The vessel struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean and sank.

The RMS Titanic was a British luxury ocean liner that sank on its maiden voyage in April 1912 after striking an iceberg, resulting in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history

More than 1,500 people lost their lives, while around 700 passengers were rescued.

Titanic has appealed to the creative genius of lawmakers, historians, filmmakers, and ocean enthusiasts across the globe. It has provided a background for countless books, articles, films, and documentaries, including the Academy Award-winning James Cameron megahit Titanic.

These details serve as testaments to the unique significance that the shipwreck has ever acquired in pop culture and American history.

However, the significance of the ship’s status as a cultural icon is outshined by its historical importance as the ultimate memorial in honour of those lives that became prey to the deadliest sea tides.
