Web Desk: Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi visited the residence of slain religious scholar Maulana Idrees in Peshawar to offer condolences to the bereaved family, according to family sources.
Afridi met the late scholar’s son, Maulana Anas, and other members of the family, expressing sorrow over the killing and paying tribute to Maulana Idrees’ religious and academic contributions.
During the meeting, the former cricketer praised the scholar’s services to Islamic education and scholarship, describing his death as a significant loss for the community.
Meanwhile, Afridi offered prayers for the elevation of Maulana Idrees’ status in the hereafter and for patience and strength for the family in their time of grief.
The visit comes amid an outpouring of condolences from religious, social and public figures following the scholar’s death.
