Central and southern Punjab may also be affected between 29 and 31 August. Cities likely to receive rain include Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan. Authorities fear that heavy showers could flood low-lying areas.

The PDMA has also issued a flood alert for rivers and streams, warning of severe thunderstorms and heavy rains across much of Punjab.

This 9th monsoon spell, starting Friday, will continue until 2 September. Showers are forecast in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Gujrat. Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rajanpur are also expected to receive rain.

Authorities have also urged people to be vigilant and not to travel unnecessarily during the rains in Lahore and those within the flood risks.
