PM Shehbaz to meet President Trump in New York along with key Muslim leaders tomorrow

Web desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet US President Donald Trump in New York, alongside the heads of state of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan, tomorrow.

The announcement was made during a media briefing by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.

“The president will also later in the day hold a multilateral meeting with Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan,” said Karoline Leavitt, the White House spokesperson, during a media briefing.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with leaders from six Islamic countries, will meet US President Donald Trump on Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Shehbaz will head Pakistan’s delegation at the annual UNGA session in New York, taking place from 22 to 26 September.

According to the Foreign Office, he will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, along with senior ministers and top officials.

According to reports, President Trump has invited the leaders of Pakistan, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan for a joint meeting.

The Foreign Office added that the leaders will “exchange views on issues about regional and international peace and security”.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left London for New York to head Pakistan’s delegation at the high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The FO added that PM Shehbaz will also present Pakistan’s stance on regional security, along with key global issues such as climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development.
