PM committee on One constitution avenue issue

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a high-level committee regarding the One Constitution Avenue matter.

The committee will be headed by Law and Justice Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, while State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Cabinet Secretary, and the Commerce Secretary will serve as its members.

The committee will review the entire matter within one week and present a comprehensive report to the Prime Minister.

During this period, any affected person will be able to present their concerns to the committee, and it will hear all parties and stakeholders without any discrimination.

Until the Prime Minister makes a final decision on the matter, no action will be taken by the Islamabad administration or the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The Prime Minister has directed the formation of this special committee to ensure that the requirements of justice are fully met in the One Constitution Avenue case.

Earlier today, The Islamabad High Court dismissed multiple petitions related to the one constitution avenue apartments, backing the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) decision to terminate the lease over non-payment of dues.

In 2005, the Capital Development Authority had leased 13.5 acres of land near the Jinnah Convention Centre for the development of a five-star hotel. M/s BNP had secured the project with the highest bid of Rs. 4.882 billion.

However, CDA handed over possession after receiving only 15% of the initial payment. This arrangement later led to repeated payment defaults and multiple rescheduling efforts.
