A local holiday has been announced in Kasur district for tomorow (Saturday), on the occasion of the 269th annual Urs of renowned Sufi poet and saint Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah (RA).
According to details, the three-day Urs celebrations will continue until August 29 in Kasur. The district administration has declared a local holiday on the final day of the Urs. The holiday will apply to district offices working under the Deputy Commissioner Kasur and other relevant district government institutions.
The Punjab Auqaf Department said that a large number of devotees from across Pakistan and abroad are expected to attend the Urs, visit the shrine, offer Fateha and pay tribute to Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah (RA).
The three-day celebrations will include the ceremonial washing of the shrine, Mehfil-e-Sama, Naat recitation, performances of Bulleh Shah’s poetry, speeches, presentation of research papers, a poetry gathering, dhamal and a Heer Waris Shah singing competition.
Foolproof security arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of devotees attending the Urs.
Deputy Commissioner Asif Raza also visited the shrine to review the arrangements and issued directions to the relevant authorities regarding cleanliness and other facilities.
Officials from the Municipal Committee, Auqaf Department, LESCO, Health Department, Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence will remain on alert to facilitate visitors.
According to Religious Affairs Committee Chairman Muhammad Latif Qadri, arrangements for free food, accommodation and clean washrooms for devotees have also been completed.
