ICC latest ODI rankings

The latest ODI rankings have been released by the International Cricket Council (ICC), with Pakistan’s leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed making significant progress.

According to the updated rankings, Abrar Ahmed has jumped seven places to reach fourth position in the bowlers’ rankings. Meanwhile, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi moved up four spots to 13th place.

In the batters’ rankings, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam retained his sixth position, while Salman Ali Agha slipped five places to 14th.

Among batters, Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand continues to hold the top spot. In the bowlers’ rankings, Rashid Khan of Afghanistan remains at No. 1.

Earlier this week ICC announced some major breakthrough development:

According to the official announcement of ICC, Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, while India will play its matches at a neutral venue.

The ICC also approved, on a trial basis, the use of the pink ball in Test matches, subject to the agreement of both teams, to maximize playing time in poor light conditions.

In T20 matches, the innings break has been extended to 15 minutes. The window for the Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 has also been revised and will now be held from February 14 to 28, 2027, instead of June-July.

According to the statement, 10 teams will participate in the ICC Emerging Nations Trophy 2026, including five Full Members and five Associate teams.

The ICC has also approved the introduction of a 16-team global qualifier for the Men’s T20 World Cup.
