Vivo Y500 Pro: 200MP Camera and Huge Battery Under $250

Vivo has unveiled the Y500 Pro, offering several improvements over its previous model. The device comes with a stronger processor, an upgraded main camera with higher resolution, and increased durability, catering to users who value reliable performance and solid features. However, it also introduces a slower storage variant.

Design and Display

The Y500 Pro features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Although the display is a bit smaller than its predecessor, it now comes with Diamond Shield glass, providing extra protection against scratches and accidental drops. The phone has gained some weight, but this adds to its overall sturdiness.

It boasts both IP68 and IP69 certifications for water and dust resistance and meets national standards for drop durability. Customers can pick from a variety of colors, including Auspicious Cloud, Light Green, Soft Powder, and Titanium Black.

Internals and Software

Vivo’s Y500 Pro comes powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, which provides faster performance than the Dimensity 7300 used in the previous version. The smartphone is available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and storage capacities reach up to 512GB. On the downside, it now uses UFS 2.2 storage, a downgrade from the UFS 3.1 that was included in the earlier model.

Cameras

The primary camera has been upgraded to a 200MP sensor with a bigger 1/1.56-inch size, capturing more detail in every shot. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera stays at 32MP with an f/2.5 aperture, ensuring sharp and clear selfies as well as smooth video calls.

Battery and Pricing

The Y500 Pro now comes with a notable improvement: a 7,000 mAh battery, which is 22% bigger than its predecessor and offers 90W fast charging support. The starting price for the Y500 Pro is $247 for the 8GB/128GB model. The 8GB/256GB variant is priced at $274, the 12GB/256GB model costs $316, and the top-tier 12GB/512GB version is available for $357.
