Faisal Vawda Says No Further Political Meetings for Imran Khan

Islamabad: Senator Faisal Vawda said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan will not hold any political meetings in the coming days, responding to a prison visit yesterday by Khan’s sister Uzma Khan.

Vawda Warns Against Political Messaging

Speaking on a private television program, Vawda said any political messages delivered through Khan’s sisters would count as political meetings. He cautioned that if such communications continued, authorities could impose restrictions on their visits as well. He stressed that “no political meetings will take place going forward.”

Criticism of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Leadership

Shifting to provincial politics, Vawda criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister for visiting the U.S. consulate instead of attending the funeral of a fallen military officer. He said the chief minister should focus on delivering governance, while the governor should perform his constitutional duties to ensure the province’s stability. Otherwise, he warned, the possibility of governor’s rule could come into play.

Call for Political Solutions

Vawda repeated that he had earlier predicted no confrontation would unfold on November 26. He said he favored political dialogue and urged the KP leadership to “do their job and create a political path” rather than rely on pressure tactics.

Remarks on Accountability and Security Leadership

Commenting on national accountability, Vawda said those who escaped scrutiny over the past 75 years were unlikely to face it in the next 75. He added that the army chief holds full command authority and that a pending notification related to security matters would be issued soon.

Governor’s Rule Not Ruled Out

Addressing reports about governor’s rule in KP, Vawda said it could be imposed if what he called “bullying or lawlessness” continued. He emphasized that the chairman of the defence forces has no role in politics and that civilian leaders must ensure governance remains within constitutional limits.
