Big breakthrough as govt arranges four oil tankers to avoid fuel shortage

⏱ 2 minute read

Web Desk: Pakistan has secured multiple crude oil shipments to safeguard domestic fuel supplies, government sources said, rejecting social media claims that the country is facing a petroleum shortage.

Officials said authorities have moved to stabilise supply chains and prevent market disruptions as tensions in the Middle East raise concerns about global energy flows.

Authorities said reports circulating online about a nationwide fuel shortage are false. Officials emphasised that petroleum stocks remain sufficient and that additional imports are being arranged as a precautionary step.

The federal government has initiated advance planning to ensure fuel availability across the country. As part of those efforts, authorities are also designing a monitoring system intended to quickly respond to supply risks and maintain stable distribution.

Meanwhile, regulators warned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in illegal fuel hoarding or attempts to manipulate the market.

To strengthen energy security, Pakistan has arranged four Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) carrying crude oil, according to government sources.

Two of the vessels are expected to arrive from the United States, while the remaining shipments will originate from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The deliveries are intended to guarantee continuous supplies of petroleum products nationwide if global supply chains face disruption.

Officials said the contingency plan reflects growing uncertainty linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has raised fears of potential supply interruptions in international energy markets.

By securing additional shipments in advance, authorities aim to reduce the risk of shortages and ensure that refineries and distribution networks continue operating without interruption.

The government said it will continue monitoring the situation closely and adjust import strategies if regional developments threaten fuel availability.

The government sources say that two Crude Oil carriers are coming from America, and one each from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to sources, measures were being taken to avoid possible fuel crises in Pakistan due to the conflict in the Middle East.
