Web Desk: Pakistani actor Arsalan Butt has denied allegations by fellow actor Mamya Shahjafar and confirmed that he has launched legal action against her.
The controversy began after Shahjafar appeared on a talk show hosted by Iffat Omar. During the interview, she alleged that a co-star behaved inappropriately toward her during a previous project. She claimed the actor made unsolicited remarks about her appearance and tried to hug her despite her objections.
At first, social media users linked the allegations to another actor with a similar name. However, Shahjafar later identified Arsalan Butt as the person she accused.
In a recent interview with Click Me Pakistan, Butt rejected the allegations. He also questioned why Shahjafar waited several years before speaking publicly.
“If the allegations were true, she should have taken legal action immediately,” Butt said.
He argued that Shahjafar could have reported the matter to law enforcement agencies or industry authorities when the alleged incident occurred.
Moreover, Butt questioned her decision to raise the issue publicly after several years. He said he would challenge the allegations through legal channels.
Butt confirmed that he has filed two cases against Shahjafar. He said he lodged a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and filed a defamation suit in court.
Because the dispute is now before the courts, Butt declined to discuss the matter in greater detail.
The allegations have sparked widespread debate across Pakistan’s entertainment industry and social media platforms. Meanwhile, Butt’s legal response has added another dimension to the controversy.
So far, no court has ruled on the allegations or the legal claims filed by either party.
As the proceedings continue, the dispute is likely to remain in the public spotlight because both actors maintain prominent careers in Pakistan’s television industry.
