Web desk: Overseas Pakistanis who dream of living in Europe have received great news because Spain has introduced a new and simple option to apply for a one year residency card. This initiative allows eligible Pakistanis to start their journey toward permanent residence more easily.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Salik Hussain chaired a high level meeting on the Spanish residency card. During the meeting they emphasized their commitment to provide legal protection and practical facilities for Pakistanis living abroad.
Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan assured full support for the Spanish residency card process. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Spain Dr. Zahoor Ahmed provided a detailed briefing to clarify the procedures. Officials also highlighted that the policy does not apply to individuals seeking political asylum.
The authorities decided that applicants must submit a character certificate along with all other required documents. Eligible individuals will receive a one year residency card at first. Once they complete seven to eight years of residency, they can apply for permanent residence and eventually citizenship.
Moreover, authorities will not accept separate character certificates. The National Police Bureau will issue a single national certificate. They have streamlined the verification process to make it fast and simple so that applicants face no unnecessary difficulties.
Mohsin Naqvi assured that officials will assist applicants at every stage. Likewise, Salik Hussain stated that granting legal status to thousands of Pakistanis marks an important and positive step.
