Professor arrested for facilitating BLA activities in Balochistan

WEBDESK: A professor from Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) has been arrested for supporting the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

Dr. Usman Qazi, a Grade-18 lecturer, admitted in a video confession that he had links with the BLA and facilitated their activities. He said he was introduced to the group by Dr. Hebtan alias Kalak and given the alias “Amir.”

Dr. Qazi confessed to several tasks, including providing medical aid to a BLA commander, sheltering two terrorists at his residence, and handing a pistol to a woman for target operations. He also admitted to arranging another individual for a planned suicide attack on August 14.

In his statement, Dr. Qazi expressed regret for betraying the state. “I have committed treason against the state, and I am ashamed,” he said. He urged students and youth to stay away from organisations that spread violence.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti praised security forces for preventing a major disaster. He confirmed the arrest of Dr Qazi in Quetta and criticised claims that Balochistan’s people are deprived. “What deprivation does this professor face?” he asked, urging locals to avoid such individuals.

The swift action of security agencies reportedly foiled a major plan of destruction on Independence Day, saving the province from significant harm.
