Web Desk: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has made the Proof of Life Certificate free of charge for pensioners and expanded the number of facilities and channels through which it can be obtained across Pakistan.
The initiative was launched on Friday on the special instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, Controller General of Accounts (CGA) and Military Accountant General (MAG).
A Proof of Life Certificate is an official document confirming that a pensioner is alive and eligible to continue receiving pension payments.
According to NADRA, the easiest option for pensioners is the Pak ID mobile application, through which eligible pensioners can obtain the certificate digitally from home.
If a pensioner is unable to complete the process personally, a close family member can obtain the certificate on their behalf through their own Pak ID account after completing the required identity verification procedure.
NADRA said pensioners who require assistance can obtain the Proof of Life Certificate free of charge from more than 5,000 e-Sahulat franchises across the country.
The facility will also be available at more than 988 NADRA Registration Centres and 500 Union Councils. Pensioners will receive priority service at these locations and will not be required to wait in regular queues.
For pensioners unable to reach a service point, NADRA has also introduced alternative arrangements. Such individuals can use Mobile Registration Vans, Biker Services and Manpack Registration Services, aimed particularly at citizens with limited mobility or access to registration facilities.
However, NADRA clarified that the decision to continue, amend or discontinue a pension will remain with the authorised pension authority in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
