Islamabad: Pakistan’s Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar on Thursday urged the public not to speculate on unofficial reports, saying the government will issue an authentic notification “at the appropriate time” and there is “nothing unusual” in the current developments.

Minister Plays Down Speculation

Azam Tarar told reporters that the public need not worry about circulating rumors and stressed that the media was portraying routine matters as breaking news. He added that recent discussions surrounding frequent jail visits to political figure Mauni had been unnecessarily amplified.

Punjab Controls Adiala Jail Operations

The minister clarified that administrative control of Adiala Jail lies with the provincial government, not federal authorities. His comments followed questions about oversight of meetings and prison procedures.

Rule of Law Essential for Governance

Tarar emphasized that Pakistan’s governance system requires strict adherence to the Constitution, existing laws and the legislative framework. He noted that effective enforcement of jail regulations remains the responsibility of the prison department.

The government plans to release an official notification once it meets all procedural requirements.

Attaullah Tarrar says Uzma Khan Barre from future meetings

Authorities have barred PTI founder Imran Khan from receiving visitors in prison, citing security concerns and alleged misuse of meetings for propaganda, officials said on Thursday. The government emphasized that no prisoner in Pakistan’s history has received privileges comparable to those extended to Khan, who is serving a sentence in a £190 million corruption case.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarrar warned that they will impose strict measures against anyone who disrupts law and order outside Adiala Jail. They do not permit daily gatherings or public spectacles outside the facility and said that anyone who tries to circumvent the restrictions by meeting Khan inside the prison and spreading propaganda outside will face consequences.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarrar asserted that Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan would be barred from meeting Khan. He stressed that the measures aim to maintain security and uphold legal procedures while ensuring the prison environment remains orderly.

Tarrar reiterated that the restrictions are in line with maintaining law, security, and public order around the high-profile detention.
