Karachi: Banks will remain close after the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced a public holiday on, December 25, to mark Quaid-e-Azam Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
In a statement, the central bank said all banks, development finance institutions and microfinance banks will remain closed on the day.
As a result, no banking or financial transactions will be carried out through branches across the country during the holiday.
Commemoration of Quaid-e-Azam Day
Quaid-e-Azam Day is observed annually as a national holiday in Pakistan to honor the life and leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Meanwhile, the SBP said regular banking operations will resume on the next working day following the holiday.
