Aleem Dar steps down from selection committee post T20 elimination

Aleem Dar resigned

Web Desk: Aleem Dar resigned from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection committee on Tuesday, sources said, citing disagreements with head coach Mike Hesson and concerns over senior management decisions.

Sources familiar with the matter said Dar felt sidelined by Hesson’s authority and alleged that team manager Aqib Javed consistently supported Hesson without question. This, Dar reportedly argued, left him powerless within the committee, prompting his resignation.

Dar reportedly opposed the inclusion of senior players Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, and Usman Khan in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad. He had recommended that wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan be promoted to the number six batting position.

Dar’s position, according to sources, was that if a top player like Babar Azam could return to the squad despite recent underperformance, other deserving players such as Rizwan should also get an opportunity.

PCB officials have yet to comment on Dar’s resignation. The development comes ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming international fixtures, raising questions about selection dynamics and team strategy.
