ANF, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, launched a large-scale campaign to eliminate illegal poppy cultivation across various districts of Baluchistan, aiming to curb the production of narcotics and disrupt drug trafficking networks.

According to ANF officials, teams comprising local administration, law enforcement, and anti-narcotics personnel are actively have destroyed poppy crops, particularly in remote and mountainous areas where such cultivation is more common. The was being conducted under the supervision of the Anti-Narcotics Force, eliminating 75585 acres of poppy fields so far in its ant-poyy drive.

Besides, to ensure timely and accurate identification of vulnerable areas, joint provincial-level task forces have been constituted. The authorities said this marked a shift from reactive operations to a proactive approach aimed at preventing illegal cultivation before it takes root.

An integrated checking and monitoring mechanism will also be put in place to strengthen enforcement and deter criminal elements, the authorities said.

For its eradication drives ahead the force spokesperson said that modern technology would be employed as part of the campaign, including satellite imagery, agricultural drones, tractors, weedicide sprays and other specialised equipment to support eradication efforts.

Alongside these measures, large-scale awareness campaigns will be launched through the media and state institutions. Regular engagements, including Jirgas with local elders, will be held to highlight the social and economic harms associated with illegal crop cultivation.
