The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reprimanded Pakistan women’s cricket team player Gul Feroza, handing her one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.
According to the ICC, disciplinary action was taken against Gul Feroza following a Level 1 Code of Conduct violation during Pakistan’s Women’s T20 World Cup match against Australia.
The ICC said that after being dismissed, Gul Feroza threw her bat and gloves aggressively near the team dugout, resulting in the Code of Conduct breach.
The governing body added that Gul Feroza admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, for which she was awarded one demerit point.
It is worth noting that Australia defeated Pakistan by 113 runs in the Women’s T20 World Cup match. Chasing a target of 199 runs, Pakistan’s women’s team was bowled out for 86 runs.
Under the ICC Code of Conduct rule, a Level 1 offence is considered a minor violation and usually results in a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, with the possibility of one or two demerit points depending on the severity of the incident.
These demerit points remain on a player’s disciplinary record for 24 months span. If a player receives multiple demerit points within that period, they may be converted into suspension points, potentially resulting in a ban from international matches.
