Web Desk: A claim by Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid that a Pakistani soldier had been captured was swiftly rejected after the soldier appeared in a video from his post, denying the allegation.

Earlier Mujahid shared a video on social media alleging that Afghan Taliban fighters had detained a Pakistan Army soldier identified as Sameen. The video quickly gained traction online, prompting widespread speculation about the soldier’s fate and security conditions along the border region.

However, no independent confirmation of the claim emerged at the time.

A day later, Soldier Sameen released a video message from a Pakistan Army checkpost in Tirah, dismissing the Taliban spokesperson’s assertion as false.

In the footage, Sameen said he was safe and continuing to perform his duties at the Tirah checkpost. He described the earlier video circulated by the Taliban spokesperson as fabricated and termed the claims of his arrest “baseless and concocted.”

His statement directly contradicted the narrative presented by Mujahid and sought to quell concerns triggered by the initial post.

The development has cast doubt on the authenticity of the video initially shared by Mujahid. As a result, questions have surfaced on social media regarding the credibility of the capture claim and the origin of the circulated footage.
