Web Desk: Pakistan’s information minister said that Afghan nationals were involved in recent attacks in the capital and warned that terrorist activity originating from Afghan territory posed a serious threat to regional stability.

Information Minister Atta Tarar told reporters that Afghan citizens were implicated in the attacks in Islamabad’s district courts and in the Tarlai area, raising fresh security concerns.

He said the involvement of Afghan nationals had made the security situation more alarming and underscored the challenges facing Pakistani authorities.

He further said that security forces had inflicted heavy losses on the Afghan Taliban in the ongoing “Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq,” claiming that 297 Taliban personnel were killed and more than 450 wounded.

Pakistan’s armed forces has destroyed 89 Taliban checkposts, seized control of 18 others, and targeted 29 locations in Afghanistan through air operations. Tarar added that 135 tanks and armored vehicles were destroyed during the operation, describing the actions as part of efforts to safeguard Pakistan’s national security.

Moreover, the minister described the broader human rights situation in Afghanistan as troubling. He said Afghan citizens were being deprived of basic rights and that the state of human freedoms there remained a matter of concern.

Tarar said Pakistan had responded effectively to what he described as aggression by the Afghan Taliban regime. He did not provide operational details but stressed that Islamabad had acted decisively to safeguard its interests.

In addition, he alleged that Afghan soil had been used to plan or facilitate recent terrorist attacks inside Pakistan. Such actions, he said, represented a major threat to peace and stability in the region.

The minister reaffirmed that Pakistan would not compromise on its national security under any circumstances. He said authorities would continue taking robust and effective measures to counter terrorism.
