Belgium vs Iran

Web Desk: Belgium and Iran shared the points after a hard-fought 0-0 draw in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group G encounter at Los Angeles Stadium on Sunday.

Although neither side found the net, the match delivered several key moments, including a disallowed Iranian goal, outstanding goalkeeping displays and a second-half red card for Belgium.

Iran came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half when a free-kick found its way into the Belgian goal in the 28th minute. However, the referee ruled the effort out for offside, denying Iran an early lead.

Belgium controlled much of the possession and created the better scoring opportunities throughout the match. Nevertheless, Iran’s defense remained disciplined, while goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand produced a series of crucial saves to keep the European side at bay.

The Iranian shot-stopper delivered the standout moment of the match in the second half when he denied Belgium from close range with a spectacular save that commentators and analysts immediately labeled a contender for the “save of the tournament.”

At the other end, Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also turned in an impressive performance. His key interventions ensured Iran could not capitalize on its attacking opportunities.

Meanwhile, Belgium suffered a setback in the second half when one of its players received a straight red card for a dangerous foul. As a result, Belgium finished the match with 10 men but managed to preserve the clean sheet.

Despite late pressure from both sides, neither team could find a breakthrough, and the contest ended scoreless.

The result leaves both Belgium and Iran with two points from their opening two Group G matches after drawing each of their first two games of the tournament.

Consequently, qualification from the group remains wide open as both teams head into their final group-stage fixtures seeking their first victory of the World Cup campaign.
