Widespread rain and snowfall across Pakistan

⏱ 2 minute read

Web desk: Widespread rain across Islamabad and several parts of the country has refreshed the weather, while snowfall in upper regions has sharply increased the cold. Intermittent rain, strong winds, and thunder hit the federal capital late at night, making conditions noticeably colder.

Abbottabad, Haripur, and nearby areas received heavy rain with gusty winds, which further lowered temperatures. In Kandian and surrounding localities, intermittent rain flooded low-lying areas and disrupted daily routines. Continuous snowfall in the Galiyat region, including Nathia Gali and Thandiani, combined with cold winds, caused a sharp drop in temperatures. Authorities also expect rain and snowfall in Murree and nearby areas.

The Meteorological Department forecasts rain in several Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur. It also predicts rain and snowfall in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, and Kohistan.

Rain and snowfall in the plains of Khyber district have slowed the retreat of winter. The weather has turned cold but pleasant once again. Residents welcomed the change and increased the use of warm clothing.

In Azad Kashmir, rain in central areas and snowfall in upper regions have intensified the cold. Heavy snowfall blocked roads at several locations and caused travel difficulties. The Met Office expects snowfall to continue in upper areas for the next 12 hours, while rain will persist in central regions.

Most parts of Balochistan will experience cold and dry weather. However, Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, and Musa Khel may receive rain and snowfall. Gilgit-Baltistan is also likely to see rain and snowfall along with strong winds and thunderstorms.

The Meteorological Department warns that strong winds, thunderstorms, and further rain and snowfall may affect many regions over the next 24 hours. Temperatures are expected to drop further.
