US president Donald Trump cancels strikes on Iran

After the Iran war, President Trump has named Cuba as his next target and openly discussed US military policy.

According to international news agencies, while addressing a ceremony in Florida, the US President said that after the Iran conflict, a large US aircraft carrier could be deployed near the Cuban coast.

According to President Trump, the deployment of this large naval fleet would force Cuba to surrender, and the United States could take control of the country. He added that this could happen very soon.

He also hinted that this move could be part of the continuation of recent military actions against Iran, raising concerns of increased regional tensions.

On the other hand, the US administration has also announced new sanctions against Cuba. These sanctions target the Cuban government, its security institutions, and individuals and organizations linked to them.

The US Treasury statement said that those sanctioned are believed to be involved in corruption or serious human rights violations.

The US may also impose secondary sanctions on foreign entities operating in Cuba’s energy, defense, financial services, metals, and mining sectors.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel rejected the US sanctions and threats, calling them coercive and saying that the behavior of the world’s largest military power is not only threatening but also causing severe difficulties for the Cuban people.

Similarly, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also called the US sanctions collective punishment.

It is worth noting that US administration has also defended its recent actions, saying that the measures against Cuba are aimed at promoting accountability and addressing alleged human rights violations.
