No parking allowed on Tariq Road as Karachi braces for heavy rain

WEBDESK: The Karachi Traffic Police has announced that both sides of Tariq Road will be a no-parking zone from today on Tuesday.

The step has been taken in view of heavy showers and the risk of urban flooding.

Officials said that if Sharea Faisal becomes flooded, Tariq Road could serve as an alternative route. To avoid traffic jams, parking has been banned on the road.

Karachi received scattered rain on the second consecutive day amid high alert across Sindh today.

Areas including II Chundrigar Road, Old City area and surroundings, Sharea Faisal, Tariq Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and various other parts of the city witnesses early morning showers. 

The met office has predicted heavy and torrential rains in the metropolis and other parts of the province.

The weather official issued alert of a possible urban flooding as strong winds and torrential downpours hit the coastal city in its 10th wet spell.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has stated that the city can expect spells of moderate to strong showers from today until late at night. 

The weather forecast issued amid a powerful monsoon system maintains its intensity as a deep depression over land, centred over Tharparkar.
