second attack on civilians

Web Desk: Fitna al Khawarij carried out a second attack on civilians in South Waziristan within hours on Saturday, injuring at least 12 members of a single family, including women and children, local sources and residents said.

The attack occurred in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan when a quadcopter drone dropped an explosive device on a civilian house, according to initial reports.

Residents said the drone targeted a private home, leaving 12 people from the same family severely wounded.

Women and children were among those injured in the strike, which damaged the house and triggered panic in the surrounding neighborhood.

Local volunteers and rescue workers rushed the injured to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The incident came only hours after another attack in the region that targeted civilians in market areas of Miranshah and Wana, highlighting a surge in violence across the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan.

Soon after the explosion, unidentified social media accounts attempted to link the incident to Pakistan’s security forces, according to local residents.

However, eyewitnesses in Azam Warsak said militants were responsible for the drone attack and accused them of deliberately targeting civilians to spread fear in the area.

Residents said the attack appeared designed to create mistrust between the local population and state institutions.

Local sources said militant groups have previously attempted to exploit such incidents to circulate misleading narratives online.

They accused the attackers of carrying out assaults on civilian populations and later using the aftermath to launch propaganda campaigns against the state.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident, but security officials said investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, community leaders urged the public to remain cautious about unverified information circulating on social media and to rely on confirmed reports from credible sources.
