Scott Ritter recommends Pakistan for Nobel Prize

Former UN weapons inspector and ex-US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter has acknowledged Pakistan’s mediating efforts during US-Iran conflict, lauding Pakistan’s key role by saying that Islamabad enjoys the distinction of being a key mediator in brokering US-Iran ceasefire and dialogue.

Speaking to senior anchorperson Fahd Hussain during his programme ‘Full Frame’ aired on Express 24/7, former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter lauded Pakistan’s role in efforts subjected to resolving the crisis, calling the Islamabad “the only game in town” capable of leading the situation toward a sustainable and long-lasting peace.

Ritter praised PM Shehbaz Sharif and FM Syed Asim Munir for their diplomatic and mediation efforts, saying the role played by the Pakistani leadership deserved global recognition. “If there ever was somebody who deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, the Pakistani leadership that has played this very essential role deserves this,” he stated.

Having served as a UN weapons inspector in Iraq during the 1990s and shares expert opinion on US foreign policy and Middle East affairs, Ritter also urged the international community to extend economic and political support to Pakistan in the aftermath of the conflict.
