Web Desk: Islamabad police have announced traffic diversions on several major roads in the capital on October 9 to facilitate the movement of cricket teams, urging commuters to plan their journeys and allow extra travel time.

The diversions will affect parts of Expressway, Srinagar Highway, Murree Road and Club Road, with traffic redirected to alternative routes at various points.

Police have warned that the changes could increase congestion on surrounding roads and advised motorists to leave 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual.

According to the traffic advisory, diversions will be introduced at multiple locations along Srinagar Highway between Serena Chowk and Ninth Avenue.

Motorists travelling on Srinagar Highway should use Suhrawardy Road and the service roads near G-8 and G-9. Traffic approaching Zero Point and Faizabad should use Faisal Avenue, while motorists heading towards Ninth Avenue should take the eastern service road.

Police have urged drivers to follow traffic personnel’s instructions and use the designated alternative routes to minimise delays.

Commuters travelling from Korang towards Islamabad have been advised to use the Old Airport route, Rawal Road, Murree Road in Rawalpindi, IJP Road and Faqir Aipi Road.

If Koral Expressway, Murree Road or Club Road becomes inaccessible, motorists can use Lehtrar Road and Park Road as alternative routes.

Meanwhile, people travelling out of Islamabad should consider Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road to avoid congestion around the affected corridors.

Residents travelling from Bhara Kahu towards Islamabad have been advised to use the routes through Bani Gala and Park Road.

Authorities expect traffic pressure to increase as the diversions take effect, particularly on roads carrying vehicles away from the main affected routes.

Islamabad Traffic Police personnel will remain deployed on major roads to guide motorists and facilitate traffic movement during the arrangements.

The police have advised citizens to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys and check official Islamabad Police social media accounts for further updates.

The advisory comes as authorities make traffic arrangements for the movement of cricket teams through the federal capital.
