There are fears that internet services in Pakistan may once again face disruptions, as Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has alerted its users about a possible temporary disturbance.
According to the company, technical work will continue from May 11 to May 18 due to the repair of an international submarine cable, which could partially affect internet services across the country.
In its statement, PTCL said that users may experience slower internet speeds or temporary interruptions, especially during evening hours, while the repair work is underway.
The company added that its technical teams are continuously monitoring the situation to minimize disruptions and restore normal internet services as quickly as possible.
Experts say that when submarine cables develop faults or undergo maintenance, internet traffic in Pakistan and several other countries is redirected through alternative routes, which can lead to slower speeds and connectivity issues.
PTCL has advised users to plan their important online activities in advance during this period and stay updated through the company’s official announcements.
The said disruption is seen as a big hinderance for firms and industries resorting to internet for its work, however the authorities concerned are using every means possible to fix the issues on emergency basis.
