Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced the distrubution date of Pink scooters for women.
Addressing reporters during his visit, the minister said that “Pink Scooters” will be distributed this week, free of charge, to women in Karachi to support their travel needs.
Memon reviewed the Yellow Line BRT development work, saying that construction of depots and related activities was in progress, while the Senator Taj Haider Bridge was in its final stages and expected to be completed within a week.
Earlier, Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that in the first phase, over 10,000 applicants applied for the Sindh government scooters scheme.
Out of the 10,000 applications, 150 women have already held driving licenses, while the other applicants have applied for learning permits.
The minister added that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has collaborated with the Sindh government in this initiative.
Under the arrangement, KMC will provide motorcycle training to women and cover the fees for their driving licenses.
Moreover, Sharjeel Memon further stated that if applications are more than 1,000 scooters, the government will carry out a balloting process to ensure fair distribution.
Here’s how the application will be conducted
1 The distribution of EV scooties will be carried out through a transparent balloting process in the presence of print and electronic media.
2 A committee will be constituted comprising members from the Excise, Transport, Finance departments, and media personnel to ensure transparency of the balloting.
