According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army has expanded its operations in coordination with civil authorities as severe flooding continues across the province.
In Jhang and Faisalabad, soldiers cut three breaches in embankments to reduce pressure, diverting between 100,000 and 150,000 cusecs of floodwater downstream. Helicopters and boats are being used to rescue stranded residents.
In Faisalabad’s affected villages, 14,050 people out of 15,800 trapped have already been rescued. The operation includes elderly citizens, women and children. In Tandlianwala, five relief camps, 18 medical camps and six rescue camps have been set up to support flood victims.
In Okara and Kasur, army troops have been working round the clock. Even at night, families were shifted to relief camps by boat. Food, medicines and first aid are being provided free of charge.
In Toba Tek Singh, the Pakistan Army, together with Rescue 1122, has established camps to deliver food, medical treatment and shelter. Troops are also working to drain floodwater quickly while stepping up relief activities in the affected villages.
Flood-affected people have welcomed the efforts, praising the Pakistan Army for standing beside the public in this time of crisis.
