On Monday, Pakistan honored Major General Humaid Abdulla Alremeithi with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) in a special investiture ceremony led by President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency in Islamabad.
The event underscored the deep defense ties and ongoing training collaboration between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Strengthened ties through high-level engagements
Following the ceremony, Major General Alremeithi held a meeting with President Zardari, who commended the UAE naval chief’s contributions to regional security and described Pakistan-UAE relations as exceptional, grounded in strong people-to-people connections.
In Rawalpindi, the UAE commander met with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and, at Air Headquarters, with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.
These discussions focused on professional matters and the broader geo-strategic environment.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Alremeithi expressed keen interest in joint exercises with the Pakistan Air Force and deepening military-to-military cooperation, noting the PAF’s operational expertise in multi-domain warfare as a valuable model for regional partners.
Robust defence collaboration and joint training
Pakistan and the UAE maintain a robust partnership through regular joint exercises at sea, on land, and in the air.
President Zardari highlighted the UAE Navy’s active participation in the Aman Dialogue 25 and Exercise Aman 25 earlier this year, reinforcing the strong maritime collaboration.
The Pakistan Navy also expressed readiness to support the UAE Navy’s manpower requirements.
Major General Alremeithi’s personal connection to Pakistan, as a graduate of the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, further strengthens trust in ongoing initiatives focused on maritime safety, interdiction, and logistics.
