Mohsin Naqvi meets Iran’s top leadership, delivers special message from Islamabad

Web Desk: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Wednesday as the two sides discussed bilateral ties and the rapidly evolving situation in the region, according to Pakistani sources.

Naqvi conveyed a special message from Pakistan’s prime minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir to the Iranian president, the sources said.

The minister also briefed Pezeshkian on the trilateral Makkah defence agreement involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, and sought to take the Iranian leadership into confidence over the arrangement, according to the sources.

The meeting comes as Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts aimed at supporting dialogue and reducing tensions in the region.

Iranian media reported that Naqvi is assisting Field Marshal Asim Munir in efforts linked to ongoing peace talks.

Munir has maintained contacts with officials from Gulf countries, Iran and the United States as part of diplomatic efforts to support negotiations, the reports said.

Pakistan has not publicly disclosed details of the messages or discussions between the officials.

Before meeting Pezeshkian, Naqvi held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The two officials discussed regional developments and the latest security situation, according to Pakistani sources.

Naqvi’s visit comes amid heightened diplomatic activity involving Pakistan, Iran, Gulf states and the United States, with Islamabad seeking to facilitate dialogue and encourage a peaceful resolution to regional tensions.
