Long queue outside petrol pumps in Islamabad amid possible fuel price hike

Islamabad witnessed unusually long queues at petrol stations on Thursday as citizens moved to refill their vehicles amid fears of an upcoming increase in fuel prices.

The rush began early in the day and increased gradually every hour till evening, especially at major fuel points across the capital.


The citizens said they were trying to refill their vehicles to minimize fuel expenses in the face of possible price hike in the next fuel revision. Citizens were seen waiting for extended hours, causing traffic pressure on roads in several areas.



Petrol pump owners reported an unexpected increase in demand within a short time, though they confirmed there was no actual shortage of fuel.

Authorities have repeatedly assured that supply remains stable and instructed citizens not to engage in panic buying fuel.


Despite official urge and reassurance, uncertainty over future price revisions human herd behaviour continues to grow, with many expecting further increases midnight based on international trends and hike in fuel prices.

The authorities once again suggest the citizens to avoid unnecessary panic and rumors which are liable to create troubles for oneself and general public.
