KARACHI: Data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association shows that car sales in Pakistan increased 42% year-on-year, while recording a 26% decline on a monthly basis.
According to the report, 128,498 vehicles were sold during the first eight months of the current fiscal year, reflecting a 43% increase compared to the same period last year. However, in February 2026, car sales declined to 17,121 units.
Sales of two- and three-wheelers rose 24% year-on-year in February but fell 12% month-on-month, reaching 159,512 units. During the first eight months of the fiscal year, sales of two- and three-wheelers increased 31% to 1,265,061 units.
The report also stated that sales of trucks and buses increased 37% annually, rising from 486 units to 664 units. During the first eight months of the fiscal year, their sales jumped 82% to 5,296 units, though monthly sales declined 40%. Meanwhile, tractor sales increased 12% year-on-year but dropped 31% on a monthly basis.
Pakistan’s auto industry has been gradually recovering after facing production cuts and declining sales in recent years due to economic instability, currency depreciation, and import restrictions on auto parts. Industry analysts say easing supply constraints and improving consumer demand have contributed to the recent annual growth, though monthly fluctuations still reflect ongoing economic pressures.
