Oline renewal of passport for overseas Pakistanis

Islamabad: Overseas Pakistanis can now access services including issuance of character certificates, passport renewal, and online verification of various official documents.

Previously, Pakistanis living abroad often faced significant difficulties in obtaining these services. Many had to travel long distances to Pakistani embassies or consulates, wait weeks for appointments, or rely on relatives in Pakistan to complete paperwork on their behalf. Delays in verification and document processing frequently caused problems for employment, immigration, and residency applications.

According to private news agency, the federal police have now introduced the “Global PKM” app to streamline the process. Director General Safe City Islamabad, Haroon Joya, stated that overseas Pakistanis will now be able to access all services online that are otherwise available at service centers in Pakistan.

He described the launch of the PKM app as a major step toward digital governance. The facility will also be available through Pakistani embassies and consulates in more than 40 countries. Police character certificates can be verified through the Employer Verification App.

According to the DG Safe City, overseas Pakistanis can now avail service center facilities from home, while employee verification processes can also be completed digitally through the same platform, reducing time, cost, and inconvenience.
