Web desk: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ruled out any extension in the deadline for filing income tax returns.
According to the department, the last date for submitting tax returns for the year 2025 is 30 September 2025, and there will be no change in this schedule. The FBR described reports about an extension as “baseless and misleading.”
The authority also dismissed attempts to link the deadline with flood-related disruptions, saying most taxpayers were not directly affected and had enough time to file.
It further clarified that claims about the IRIS portal’s slow performance were incorrect, stressing that the platform is fully functional.
The FBR warned that those who fail to submit their returns on time will face consequences under the law.
Earlier, the tax authority had also rejected confusion regarding the 2025 income tax return form.
It clarified that no amendments or changes had been made to the form, which was uploaded to the FBR website on 7 July 2025.
