Web Desk: A severe heatwave sweeping across southern Pakistan pushed temperatures in the interior Sindh city of Dadu to a record 51.5°C on Thursday, marking the highest level ever recorded for the location, local media reported.
The extreme reading surpassed Dadu’s previous high of 51.4°C, which was recorded on May 18, 2016, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Officials said Thursday’s temperature stood 4.5°C above the city’s typical average for May, underscoring the intensity of the ongoing heatwave.
Meanwhile, other parts of the province also experienced extreme heat conditions. Larkana and Jacobabad both recorded temperatures of 50.5°C as the heatwave persisted across the region.
Meteorologists have warned that prolonged high temperatures could further strain daily life, particularly in urban centers already coping with water shortages and power demand surges during peak summer months.
