NADRA temporarily closes multiple centres in Punjab due to floods, rain

WEBDESK: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the temporary closure of several service centres across Punjab after heavy rains and flooding disrupted daily life.

NADRA said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of citizens and staff during the ongoing weather emergency.

According to the advisory, the following centres will remain closed until further notice: Vanike Tarar, Hafizabad, Jalalpur Bhattian, 18 Hazari (Jhang), Ahmad Nagar (Chiniot), Midh Ranjha (Sargodha), Kari Sharif (Gujrat), Kotli Loharan (Sialkot), Syedpur (Sialkot), Khidmat Markaz (Sialkot), and Depalpur (Okara).

NADRA has advised citizens from affected areas to visit nearby operational centres for their service needs.

To manage the extra load, mobile registration vans have been deployed in adjoining districts.

According to the forecast, rain will continue in Lahore and also hit Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin from 30 to 31 August.

Central and southern Punjab may also be affected between 29 and 31 August. Cities likely to receive rain include Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan. Authorities fear that heavy showers could flood low-lying areas.

As the water level continue to rise in Ravi River, the flood water has entered a famous societies including located near Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore.

The torrential rains combined with the release of water form the Indian side has caused severe damage in Lahore and other parts of Punjab.
