The police detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sisters for a few hours, however, they have now been released.

They were released at Chakri Interchange.

Earlier, Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan and Noreen Khan, were arrested outside Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

The arrest came after the Khan sisters led a sit-in protest alongside party workers at the Dahgal checkpoint near Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The protest caused traffic disruptions on Adiala Road, with long queues of vehicles reported due to sit-in. Aleema Khan was joined by PTI leaders and lawyers, including Salman Akram Raja, Niazullah Niazi, and Naeem Haider Panjotha.

Speaking to the media alongside Barrister Salman Akram Raja, Aleema Khan stated that they had come to Adiala Jail for a scheduled meeting with Imran Khan but were stopped far from the jail premises.

“I have not sought bail. If they want to arrest me, let them,” Aleema Khan said, She added, “We don’t know where to go for justice.”

Earlier this year, sources revealed that Aleema Khan was accused of being involved in anti-state activities through social media.

The notice issued to them in this regard warned that if she does not appear on the summons, it will be assumed that she has nothing to present in her defense, and in case of non-appearance, legal action will be taken.

According to the notice, action can be taken against Aleema Khan under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code in case of non-compliance with the summons.
