Imam-ul-Haq’s Injury During Pakistan’s 2025 New Zealand Tour Was Also Found to Be Fake
Following Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq’s injury in England, a previous inquiry report has resurfaced. Sources say the PCB may once again investigate his latest injury because of the earlier incident.
According to sources, in March 2025, Imam-ul-Haq was struck on the right big toe by a ball during an indoor net session. An X-ray found no evidence of a fracture or dislocation of the toe.
A PCB inquiry committee had held Imam-ul-Haq responsible for allegedly reporting a fake injury during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand in March 2025.
Imam-ul-Haq complained of severe pain and a black mark on his toe. However, after the team doctor cleaned the toe with a specific chemical solution, the black mark reportedly disappeared.
According to the PCB inquiry committee, the black substance was not natural blood but an ink or marker stain. Imam-ul-Haq denied before the committee that he had used ink or any artificial substance on his toe.
The report stated that the committee found Imam-ul-Haq’s account inconsistent with the medical evidence and X-ray results. It also said that Imam-ul-Haq was seen limping while under supervision but walked normally when out of sight.
According to the PCB committee, there was no medical basis for declaring Imam-ul-Haq unfit for the first ODI. The committee accused him of fabricating and exaggerating symptoms of injury and said he had attempted to mislead the medical staff.
The inquiry report also mentioned an alleged attempt by Imam-ul-Haq to deliberately withdraw from the first ODI against New Zealand. The committee recommended that he be barred from representing Pakistan at all formats and levels.
According to sources, the earlier controversy also involved allegations that Imam-ul-Haq was seeking to avoid opening on New Zealand’s difficult and pace-friendly pitches.
