Internet services have started to be restored in different parts of Azad Kashmir after remaining suspended for several weeks.
According to reports, internet connectivity has begun returning in the Mirpur Division after nearly 47 days, while services have also started resuming in the Kotli Division after 43 days.
The prolonged shutdown had caused significant difficulties for residents, students, businesses, and freelancers who rely on internet access for education, communication, and online work. Authorities are restoring the services in phases following the extended disruption.
The internet had been suspended by the government due to the law and order situation during the JAAC protests. The lengthy outage affected communication, online education, business activities, and access to various digital services across the region.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked the Azad Kashmir PPP and the Azad Kashmir Election Commission for their efforts. In a post on X, he said he had been informed that internet and digital connectivity in Mirpur would soon be fully restored and expressed hope that similar requests for Muzaffarabad and other areas would also be approved soon.
