The suspension on new domestic LNG connections is likely to be lifted in September, according to sources in the Petroleum Division.
The sources said new household LNG connections could be restored once Qatar lifts the force majeure imposed on LNG supplies.
According to the sources, Qatar has maintained the force majeure until August, affecting LNG supplies. They expect supply conditions to improve from September after the restriction is lifted.
Petroleum Division sources also said LNG demand from the power sector is expected to decline in September, which could improve gas availability for domestic consumers.
They added that a final decision on lifting the ban on new LNG connections will be taken after reviewing the supply situation at that time.
The government suspended new domestic LNG connections in May 2026 due to disruptions in LNG supplies.
The development is expected to provide long awaited relief to consumers waiting for new household LNG connections, many of whom have faced months of uncertainty due to supply obstructions.
