Security forces destroy explosive laden vehicle in Bannu, four terrorists killed

Web Desk: Security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence based operation in the Sardi Khel area of Bannu after an explosives laden vehicle was intercepted and destroyed according to security sources.

Officials said the operation was launched after security forces received intelligence about the movement of a vehicle carrying weapons and ammunition.

According to the sources security personnel attempted to stop the vehicle. However the occupants opened fire prompting an exchange of gunfire with security forces.

During the operation the vehicle exploded and was destroyed. Officials said all four terrorists inside the vehicle were killed.

Security sources said the vehicle was loaded with weapons and ammunition although they did not immediately provide details about the quantity or type of arms recovered or destroyed in the blast.

Authorities have not released the identities of those killed, security officials said the area has been secured while investigators continue to examine the scene. Further details are expected as the operation remains under review.
