Web Desk: US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the United States will launch a major military strike against Iran tonight, declaring that Washington possesses a decisive operational plan.

Speaking to journalists in Florida, Hegseth issued further threats of military action against Tehran. He warned that the US military will target critical Iranian installations if the Iranian government fails to secure a diplomatic agreement with Washington.

According to a report by Al Jazeera, the defense chief noted that President Donald Trump has already established a clear stance on the matter. Hegseth emphasized that Iran is failing to demonstrate a serious attitude toward negotiations, adding that Tehran will face American bombardment if it refuses to approach the bargaining table.

Furthermore, Hegseth asserted that the United States will maintain total control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz. He claimed that authorities have already facilitated the transit of 100 million barrels of oil through the maritime chokepoint via tankers.

While the defense secretary indicated that the potential American strikes would be highly visible and exceptionally powerful, he declined to provide specific details regarding the exact facilities chosen for targeting.

Instead, Hegseth reiterated that US forces will bomb vital infrastructure inside Iran. He promised that the upcoming operation would deliver a strong and clear message, while simultaneously downplaying Tehran’s military capabilities by stating that most Iranian missiles fail to hit their targets.

The Pentagon leader continuously claimed that the United States holds command over the Strait of Hormuz, maintaining that Washington has successfully managed oil shipments through the critical waterway for several weeks. However, he offered no concrete evidence to substantiate these claims of maritime control.

In his concluding remarks, Hegseth stated that Iran still holds a brief opportunity to negotiate a deal with the United States. Nevertheless, he warned that the situation will escalate drastically if Tehran maintains its rigid stance.
